The floppy data header on the mboard, and the header on the back of the drive, may or may not have a plastic shroud around it (a rectangular enclosure the connector fits inside of) that has a slot in the middle of one side - that slot lines up with an external tab on the floppy data cable connector to prevent you from installing the connector. First of all my computer never had a floppy drive or floppy diskette hey. So i got a dell optiplex gx620 mini tower and every time i try to turn it on it just said Floppy diskette seek failure when booting up. IT give me the option to press F1 to continue and F2 to setup. Every time i press f1 nothing happens and f2 takes me to setup. So then i try changing the booting sequence that was: 1. I have worked with this dell 755 all day and didn't get no where until i called dell tech support. Told him i was using ghost suite 2.0 to make a boot usb drive and the 755 was not booting. He mentioned creating a floppy boot disk and i used the ghost boot wizard and holy smokes it worked like a champ. Dell Optiplex 755 boot errors So I bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 755 about a week ago running Windows 10 Pro 32-bit and it worked fine. When starting your computer, if you experience the diskette drive 0 seek failure error, it's due to an issue with the computer booting from a floppy disk drive or bootable device. However, this doesn't necessarily mean there is an issue with the floppy drive itself.
Remove disks, discs, and drives
Make sure the computer is not booting a non-bootable device by remove any floppy and CD in the computer. Also, disconnect any external drives any other USB device (except the keyboard and mouse). If this resolves your problem, your computer was trying to boot from a non-bootable device.
Fix boot options
If there were no disks or drives connected the computer, make sure the boot sequence is properly set in the computer's CMOS (BIOS) setup.
Once in CMOS setup, navigate through the setup and find the section that allows you to set the boot devices that the computer checks when starting up. The floppy drive is likely one of them (probably the first on the list). Remove the floppy drive from the boot up list or change the order, so the floppy drive is last. Instead of having the floppy drive as the first boot drive set your hard drive and CD or DVD drive as the first two boot devices.
Once you have made those changes, save, and exit the setup (usually by pressing the F10 key).
The diskette drive 0 seek failure error message should no longer be seen when your computer starts up.

Bad hard drive
If you've tried the above recommendations, but problem persists, there may be a problem with the hard disk drive that's preventing it from booting. Unfortunately, this is often an indication that the hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced.
